License file setup

DataStone uses an offline activation lease file. In most deliveries, Reshenie prepares the license before handoff. Use this tutorial when Reshenie sends a license file separately or asks you to export an activation request JSON.

The license file is a JSON file issued for one DataStone installation. It must match the appliance installation ID shown on the License Settings page.

Open License Settings

  1. Log in to the Admin UI.
  2. Open Settings and select License Settings, or browse to /admin/license-settings/.
  3. Review the Installation ID and current Last status.

If Reshenie already sent the license file

Use this path when your setup email includes an offline activation lease file.

  1. On the License Settings page, find Offline activation lease.
  2. Select the JSON license file from your computer.
  3. Leave Clear stored activation lease unchecked.
  4. Select Save.
  5. Wait for the page to reload.
  6. Confirm Last status shows OK.
  7. Confirm the License ID, Customer ID, and Expires at fields match the information from Reshenie.

If Reshenie asks for an activation request

Use this path when Reshenie needs the appliance identity before generating the license file.

  1. Open /admin/license-settings/.
  2. In Activation Request JSON, select Download JSON.
  3. Save the downloaded file. The filename starts with activation-request-.
  4. Email that JSON file to Reshenie.
  5. Wait for Reshenie to return the offline activation lease JSON file.
  6. Upload the returned license file using the steps in the previous section.

Verify the license

A successful license setup shows:

FieldExpected value
Last statusOK
MessageActivation lease signature verified, or an equivalent success message
Bound installationSame installation identity used to issue the lease
License IDPresent
Expires atPresent unless the lease is intentionally non-expiring
Public key sourceBundled vendor public key

If the status is not OK, do not continue device setup until the license issue is resolved.

Replace or renew a license

Use the same upload steps when Reshenie sends a renewed license file. Upload the new JSON file and select Save. The License Settings page should update the license ID, dates, and status after the page reloads.

Clear a license only when instructed

The Clear stored activation lease checkbox removes the stored license. Use it only when Reshenie support asks you to clear the license before importing a replacement.

To clear the license:

  1. Open /admin/license-settings/.
  2. Check Clear stored activation lease.
  3. Select Save.
  4. Confirm the status no longer shows an active license.
  5. Upload the replacement license file if Reshenie provided one.
